New Delhi, Republic of India; Berlin, Germany (Weltexpress). According to the Reuters news agency, citing sources, the government of the Republic of India, also known as Bharat Gaṇarajya, has put its plans to purchase weapons from the United States of America (USA) on hold due to high import duties – also known as punitive tariffs – imposed on the Republic of India by the US government under President Donald Trump.

Some experts and critics say that India has put the purchase of weapons from the USA on hold. Others see the departure from the USA as an even stronger shift towards the BRICS countries, in particular the Russian Federation (RF). Most of the Republic of India’s weapons come from the RF.

India had planned to send Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to Washington in the coming weeks to announce some of the purchases. This trip has now been cancelled. The Republic of India is a founding member of the BRICS, alongside the Republic of Brazil, the Republic of South Africa, the RF and the PRC. The fact that the US, with the United Kingdom in tow and their vassal states, is continuing to fuel the economic war against the BRICS states is as obvious as the efforts of other states to become members of the BRICS.
