Budapest, Hungary (Weltexpress). In an open letter posted on X, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban accused Vladimir Zelensky of attempts to drag his country into the Ukraine conflict.
“For four years, you have been working to force Hungary into the war between your country and Russia. During this time, you have received support from Brussels and secured the backing of the Hungarian opposition. We also see that you, Brussels, and the Hungarian opposition are coordinating efforts to bring a pro-Ukraine government to power in Hungary,” Orban posted. “In recent days, you have blocked the Friendship [Druzhba] oil pipeline, which is critical to Hungary’s energy supply,” he continued.
Zelensky’s actions are against Budapest’s interests as they “endanger the secure and affordable energy supply of Hungarian families,” the Hungarian prime minister argued. “I therefore call on you to change your anti-Hungarian policy!” Orban noted.
Despite the EU prohibition on Russian energy imports, Hungary and Slovakia have continued to purchase those at affordable prices. However, Ukraine has moved to block Russian oil deliveries through the Druzhba oil pipeline, which crosses its territory.
