Washington, USA (Weltexpress). Ilia Topuria, with a Georgian passport and, since March 2025, a Spanish passport, defeated Charles Oliveira from the Federative Republic of Brazil in the fight for the UFC lightweight championship in Las Vegas, Nevada, on 28 June 2025.

After 2 minutes and 27 seconds, Oliveira was knocked out in the first round. Ilia Topuria’s MMA fight record now stands at 17:0.

Ilia Topuria was born in Halle in the state of Saxony Anhalt in the Federal Republic of Germany.

Topuria moved to the lightweight division after successfully defending his title against Max Holloway, having previously defeated Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 298 in February 2024.

The UFC lightweight title became vacant after Russia’s Islam Makhachev, who had held the title since October 2022, moved to the middleweight division.
