Tel Aviv, State of Israel (Weltexpress). According to reports by Israeli television station Channel 12, the Israeli navy intercepted the last ship of the Sumud flotilla, also known as the Global Freedom Flotilla, on its way to the Gaza Strip. According to the broadcaster, the yacht Marinette fell behind the main group of 41 ships due to technical problems and was captured by the Israeli navy on Thursday, 2 October 2025.

Israeli police said in a statement that 470 detained members of the Global Sumud Flotilla had been subjected to ‘rigorous checks’ at the Israeli port of Ashdod before being handed over to the prison service and immigration authorities for deportation.

On Thursday, the Israeli Foreign Ministry stated that none of the Freedom Flotilla ships had managed to reach the active combat zone or break through the naval blockade of the Gaza State/Gaza Strip. According to the ministry, ‘all passengers are safe and sound’ and ‘on their way to Israel, from where they will be deported to Europe.’ The Foreign Ministry also stated that the ‘Hamas provocation’ in connection with the Freedom Flotilla was ‘over.’

The Sumud flotilla had set sail from the Tunisian coast to Gaza in mid-September 2025. It consisted of over 42 ships from various countries. The Israeli authorities have repeatedly stated that they would not allow the ships to approach the coast of the Gaza State/Gaza Strip. They justified this with the naval blockade due to the ongoing fighting in the war between the Gaza State and the State of Israel. The war broke out on 7 October 2023 with an attack by the Gaza State on the State of Israel. During the conflict, Arab civilians were murdered and taken hostage.

Fighting on the side of the State of Gaza are mainly soldiers from the Kassam Brigades, but also soldiers from the Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades, and even the al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades and the al-Quds Brigades. On the side of the State of Israel, the main combatants are the armed forces of the State of Israel, but also troops from the armed forces of the USA. The Federal Republic of Germany is also a belligerent state on the side of the State of Israel in this war. It does not supply soldiers, but it does supply money, weapons, ammunition and more. The Federal Republic of Germany is also heavily involved in the production and distribution of weapons and ammunition in this war.
Officials of the State of Israel proposed to the activists of the Freedom Flotilla that the humanitarian cargo be unloaded in Ashkelon, the Israeli port closest to the State of Gaza, or in a port in another state, from where the aid supplies could be delivered to the State of Gaza, which has not yet been conquered and occupied, and to the already occupied Gaza Strip. According to the Israeli Foreign Ministry, the activists rejected all these proposals.

The goal of the State of Israel is and remains to destroy the State of Gaza. Not only are the armed forces of the State of Gaza to be completely destroyed, but also parties and organisations such as Hamas, Islamic Jihad in Palestine, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine and even the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine.
