Moscow, Russian Federation (Weltexpress). Vasiliki Karagiorgos, born on 15 March 1983 in Darwin, Australia, who performs under the name Vassy as a singer and producer, will represent the USA at the Intervision Song Contest instead of the performer Brandon Howard, the project’s press service told TASS. ‘Singer and producer Vassy will represent the United States instead of Brandon Howard,’ a spokesperson for the agency said.
Brandon Howard was supposed to be the fifth performer to take the stage. However, it was announced today that he will not be able to perform ‘due to unforeseen family circumstances,’ as the singer himself explained in a video address.
The Intervision song contest was revived by a decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin on 3 February 2025. It will take place in Moscow on 20 September 2025. Around 20 countries worldwide, including all BRICS countries, have confirmed their participation. The Russian Federation will be represented by Yaroslav Dronov, who performs under the pseudonym Shaman.
The Intervision Song Contest was held mainly between 1965 and 1980. Participants came not only from the USSR, but also from Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Cuba, Czechoslovakia, Finland, Hungary, Morocco, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Switzerland, Yugoslavia and the GDR.
Vasiliki Karagiorgos’ parents come from Florina in Western Macedonia, which belongs to the Hellenic Republic.
