Berlin, Germany (Weltexpress). While the EU stokes the war over Ukraine with ever-increasing amounts of money and weaponry, the Vatican—and apparently the American CIA as well—are striving for de-escalation. Not only Vatican envoy Archbishop Richard Paul Gallagher but also CIA Director John Ratcliffe has visited Moscow.
“The Holy See strongly urges both sides to show openness and good will” in order to “end the fighting and enter into genuine negotiations,” said Vatican “Foreign Minister” Gallagher during a meeting with his Russian counterpart, Lavrov, in Moscow. It was the first visit to Russia by a high-ranking Vatican official since November 2021.
Shortly thereafter, an American military transport plane arrived in Moscow. According to US media reports, CIA Director Ratcliffe was on board. This sparked speculation regarding possible attempts at de-escalation. “Purely by coincidence,” Ukrainian President Zelenskyy also spoke of a “window of opportunity” for resolving the conflict.
Yet one hears nothing of the sort from EU representatives. They have apparently forgotten the art of diplomacy.
It is noteworthy that Ukraine suspended its attacks during the visit. Zelenskyy still listens to the Americans. That is only fitting when one is waging a proxy war coordinated and financed by NATO.
Zelenskyy has been receiving his orders from Washington for many years. And whenever the US President’s interest waned, European vassals ensured that the costs of the war were footed by the Europeans. Meanwhile, Trump and his cronies are making a fortune selling weapons to Europeans for transfer to Ukraine.
At the same time, speculation continues regarding the purpose of the surprise CIA visit to Moscow. It may well be linked to the imminent collapse of Ukraine—a scenario discussed last Tuesday by Mykhailo Fedorov, the star Defense Minister recently fired by Zelenskyy, in an interview with the British news agency Reuters.
According to him, Kyiv is only months away from defeat in the conflict with Moscow. “I think we have reached a turning point that will determine our future development. It looks like we are slowly losing,” he told Reuters.
Indeed, Ukraine has only a few months left before the onset of a brutal winter. Then, an exhausted Ukraine—lacking air defenses and with its power generation capabilities on their last legs—will make a futile attempt to fend off the unstoppable, relentless Russian ballistic missile attacks on its critical infrastructure.
It appears that not only segments of the Ukrainian elite but also the CIA have recognized the writing on the wall. Director Ratcliffe and the power brokers are rushing to Moscow, hoping once again to use fine words and promises to dissuade the Russians from finally pulling the plug on the life-support system keeping comatose Ukraine alive.
Only the Europeans seem determined to ignore reality and remain in their “Ukraine will win” dreamworld.
Just in time for the anniversary of Ukraine’s “dependence day” on US-NATO—August 25—the “Coalition of the Willing” met in Kyiv and granted Zelenskyy everything he wanted: no strings attached regarding the fight against rampant corruption, and no regard for the already staggering Ukrainian losses at the front. Burnham, the new British Labour (SPD-like) Prime Minister and warmonger, pledged to hand over secret blueprints for British Storm Shadow cruise missiles—intended for strikes deep within Russian territory—to Ukraine.
Russia warned that, in doing so, he had opened Pandora’s box a little wider. But who among the autistic European elites still takes Russian warnings seriously—until it is too late?
France’s failed president and would-be Napoleon, Macron, vowed to expand the undeclared naval war against the so-called “Russian shadow fleet” and to penalize states that purchase gas, oil, or diesel from Russia in the future.
Furthermore, the EU gave Zelensky an anniversary gift of €6.1 billion for arms purchases—ideally from Germany and France. At the same time, it pledged to maintain the supply of funds and weapons for as long as Zelensky deems necessary: ”as long as it takes,” according to the Spanish President of the European Council, Costa.
This time, Chancellor Merz surprisingly made no new pledges of financial aid or weaponry. He is presumably waiting until after the state election in Saxony-Anhalt to do so, as such offerings to Zelenskyy are anything but popular and could cost the CDU votes.
Instead, Merz appeased his Ukrainian hosts with the official fascist salute—once again highly revered since the 2014 Maidan coup—that Ukrainian Nazi collaborators and SS auxiliary troops had used during the mass murders: “Slava Ukraini,” Chancellor Merz also shouted.
