Washington, USA (Weltexpress). Lieutenant General Jeffrey Kruse, director of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) at the US Department of Defense, has been relieved of his duties, a Pentagon official confirmed to TASS: ‘Lieutenant General Kruse will no longer serve as DIA director,’ the official said.
Earlier, the Washington Post reported, citing sources, that US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth had dismissed the head of the Pentagon’s most important intelligence agency. The move follows a DIA assessment of the Iranian military strikes in June 2025, the newspaper said. In the early hours of 13 June 2025, the State of Israel launched a military operation against the Islamic Republic of Iran. Less than 24 hours later, Iran struck back.
Nine days later, on the morning of 22 June 2025, the US attacked Iranian nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan with warplanes, thus entering the conflict. The following evening, the government in Tehran ordered a missile attack on Al Udeid, the largest US military base in the region, in Qatar. On 24 June 2025, Donald Trump, as President and Commander-in-Chief of the US, announced that the State of Israel and the Islamic Republic of Iran had agreed to a complete ceasefire.
