Berlin, Germany (Weltexpress). On the flight back from the so-called G7 summit in Kananaskis, Canada, to Washington, Donald Trump, President and Commander-in-Chief of the United States, was asked about statements made by Tulsi Gabbard.
She has been Director of National Intelligence since February 2025. These include, for example, the US foreign intelligence service known as the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the US foreign intelligence service known as the National Security Agency (NSA). The CIA and NSA are two of 18 foreign intelligence services in the US.
On 25 March 2025, during an official and public hearing in the US Congress, more specifically a Senate hearing, Tulsi Gabbard stated: ‘Iran is not building nuclear weapons.’ This is the conclusion and finding of all 18 US intelligence agencies. Quote from Tulsi Gabbard: ‘The IC continues to assess that Iran is not building nuclear weapons and that Supreme Leader Khamenei has not authorised the nuclear weapons programme that he suspended in 2003. The intelligence community is monitoring whether Tehran decides to authorise/resume its nuclear weapons programme.’
The IC is the intelligence community of the United States.
Trump’s response: ‘I don’t care what she said.’
Trump also said that the Islamic Republic of Iran was ‘very close’ to ‘getting one.’
