Dubai, UAE (Weltexpress). The death toll from the earthquake in the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has risen to 812, with the number of injured rising to 2,817, government spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said at a press conference, according to the Khaama Press news agency. Local officials and residents are currently busy rescuing those affected.

‘Support teams from the centre and nearby provinces are also on their way,’ he wrote on social media platform X.

On 31 August 2025, the Hindu Kush in the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan was rocked by a 6.2 magnitude earthquake. The epicentre was located 27 kilometres southwest of the city of Asadabad.

Strong tremors destroyed entire villages, while landslides blocked roads to some settlements and cut off communication links. Rescue operations are being carried out in the remote mountainous regions.
