Berlin, Germany (Weltexpress). Cotes du Rhone brought sampled wine selection to an excellent Master Class and Food-Pairing event to the heart of Berlin. Held in the Bricole Restaurant, experts sampled wines from the oldest vineyards of France.
The Rhone stretches from Lyon to Avignon and is well known for their fresh and balanced wines. The diverse selection between the north and south included Ferraton Pere et Fils, Maison Gabriel Malfre, Chateau Rochecolombe, Halos de Jupiter, Le Compagnie Rhodanienne, M. Chapontier, Domaine Grand Nicolet and a Delas Freres.
The food paring with each wine selection provided a savory experience – pairing dishes included Makrelnfilet, white bean sauce, baked asparagus, goat cheese, wild herbs, brombeer vinaigrette, Kabeljau, lamb and a kalbfilet with avacado creme.
Each of the wines met a fair price range – roughly 14 euro a bottle – Samorens 2016 Ferraton Pere et Fils and the Domaine des Grandes Chemins 2013 – Delas Freres took top nods from the experts.
Next time in the Cotes du Rhone region, simply recall the samples mentioned and enjoy a heavenly break.
Weltexpress Gourmet highly recommends the Cotes du Rhone journey.
