Doha, Emirate of Qatar (Weltexpress). Organising elections in the remains of the state still called the Syrian Arab Republic could take at least four years, said the head of the new authorities, Ahmed al-Sharaa. ‘Organising the elections could take four years,’ said the jihadist and once-wanted terrorist from Al-Qaeda and the Al-Nusra Front, who, as Abu Muhammad al-Jaulani, took Damascus with the jihadists of Hai’at Tahrir al-Sham, in an interview with Al-Arabija. ‘Before real elections, we have to conduct a general census,’ he emphasised.

He did not mention that before a general census and elections on the current territory of the Syrian Arab Republic, the occupied parts of the former territory would have to be returned. The Republic of Turkey, the United States and the State of Israel are among the invaders and occupiers.

He also did not provide any details about parties that have been banned or are yet to be legalised. So far, the Baath Party has been forced to cease its activities and surrender its assets.
