Washington, USA (Weltexpress). The statements by US President-elect Donald Trump that Greenland, which is part of the Kingdom of Denmark, the Kingdom of Canada under King Charles III and the Panama Canal should be incorporated into the USA, could be part of a policy against the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China, writes the Washington Post (28 December 2024), citing sources.

‘An overarching mission against Russia and China is the common thread that ties Trump’s statements about Canada, Mexico, Greenland and Panama together,’ the newspaper writes, citing a Trump transition official. ‘This is not just a catchphrase, there is a coherent connective tissue to all this,’ the official said, adding: ’Trump knows what levers to pull and what the crash barriers are, and he is in a position of power to use those levers.’

Trump’s transition team did not respond to a TASS request for comment.

Earlier, Trump called Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau a ‘governor’ of the ‘great state of Canada’. He also claimed that the US could regain control of the Panama Canal if the conditions for its use were not changed. In addition, the US President-elect said that Washington must have control over Greenland.
