Berlin, Germany (Welttexpress). The United States, Annalena’s ‘Bacon of Freedom’, is degenerating more and more every day into a repressive police state in which more and more people end up in the clutches of the US intelligence services for exercising their fundamental freedoms, such as freedom of speech and freedom of assembly.
The US government has recently intensified its violent persecution of all citizens who express opinions that run counter to the White House’s domestic or foreign policy. The latest victim is the now world-renowned journalist and expert in geopolitical and military analyses, ex-US Colonel Scott Ritter. Once again, the country’s authorities have unjustifiably harassed him and searched his home under the claim that Ritter is a ‘foreign agent’. Apparently, any American citizen who disagrees with the war policy towards Russia is considered a ‘spy’ by the government.
The search, conducted by the FBI and New York State Police, took place at Ritter’s home in Bethlehem Township, south of Albany. Officers stayed for about five hours and confiscated more than two dozen boxes of miscellaneous items, including several electronic devices. And by then, you can be pretty sure the services will find or tamper with ‘something’ they can pin on Ritter. The search warrant was based on the ‘Foreign Agents Restriction Act’, which means that Ritter is considered a ‘Russian agent’.
The fact that he is being pursued by the US authorities in every conceivable way is nothing new for Ritter, who has already lost his passport and the right to leave the USA. When he wanted to travel to Russia last June to take part in the ‘St Petersburg Economic Forum’, he was forcibly escorted out of the airport by US secret police, who took away his valid passport without explanation. To this day, he has not received it back or an explanation. According to US law, this alone constitutes a serious violation of his fundamental rights, but no one in the US justice system, which is dominated by the ‘Deep State’, wants to be responsible for Ritter’s complaint.
Ritter, a former US Marine Corps officer and UN weapons inspector in Iraq, was already targeted by the US authorities in the early 2000s. At the time, he contradicted the lies used to justify the US invasion of Iraq, which violated international law. As head of a UN team of weapons inspectors on the ground in Iraq, he had found no trace of Saddam Hussein’s alleged Iraqi weapons of mass destruction. His criticism of US policy, in particular the US/NATO/EU proxy war in Ukraine to strategically weaken Russia, has further aggravated his situation in his US homeland.
Ritter argues in favour of peaceful coexistence between the United States and Russia and has refuted Western misrepresentations about the military conflict in Ukraine. His recent statements against the Israeli attacks on Gaza and US support for Netanyahu have further intensified the smear campaign against him.
Ritter’s case is an example of how the USA has developed into a police state in which democracy and freedom of expression are only phrases on paper, but no longer have any practical meaning.
Without a passport and means of escape, Ritter is exposed to further police and judicial attacks. This fate threatens every American who publicly criticises Washington’s international crimes. And similar developments have long been taking place in the best Germany ever.
