Berlin, Germany (Weltexpress). The awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to María Corina Machado, the leader of the most violent right-wing opposition in Bolivarian Venezuela, once again demonstrates the hypocrisy of the West, which in recent years has been the greatest accomplice to the genocide in Palestine and now awards the Nobel Peace Prize to a pro-Zionist fascist whose only merit is to be at the forefront of the fight against socialism. This is the opening of the assessment of the decision taken in Oslo by the communist magazine Contropiano on its online portal on 11 October 2025, which exposes how it contradicts, in a downright mocking manner, the stipulations of the prize’s founder, the Swedish inventor and industrialist Alfred Nobel.

According to his stipulations, the prize should be awarded to a person who has ‘done the most or best to promote fraternity among nations, the abolition or reduction of standing armies, and the holding or promotion of peace congresses,’ thereby ‘rendering the greatest service to mankind.’ Since 2023, the prize has been endowed with 11 million Swedish kronor (approx. 999,000 euros).Unlike the other categories of the Nobel Prize, the award is not the responsibility of a Swedish institution, but of a five-member committee appointed by the Norwegian Parliament. In contrast, the new laureate has distinguished herself in recent years as an ardent advocate of the free market economy through her attempts – sometimes carried out by force – to bring the country back under US influence through coups. This included last year’s coup during the elections, which legally confirmed the continuation of the Maduro government.

Over time, she has repeatedly expressed her support for an invasion of the country and the inhumane sanctions with which the US is attempting to strangle and starve the country. However, these attempts have failed in the face of the mobilisation of the population, which is defending the Chavista revolutionary process in Venezuela.

In recent years, Machado has also repeatedly expressed her support for the terrorist state of Israel and the genocide it is perpetrating in Palestine. Now the mask has fallen: the demonstrations of recent weeks and the global movement in support of Palestine show that the Western narrative, which aims to brand itself as the ‘defender of human rights’ and anyone who fights imperialism as a ‘terrorist,’ has lost touch with reality.

A new world is increasingly emerging, from the jungle to the garden, which instead recognises experiences such as those of Bolivarian and Chavista Venezuela as a true beacon for all peoples fighting against imperialism, fascism and for socialism, and this attempt at mystification will certainly not stop them.

From Palestine to Venezuela, we will always stand alongside all the peoples of the world who are fighting for their freedom, independence and self-determination. The only prospect for peace is to break with imperialism, Contropiano concludes.
