Former UN high commissioner for human rights to receive 2026 Nobel Peace Prize – Navanethem “Navi” Pillay was honored “for her efforts to promote peace and international law”

Stockholm, Kingdom of Sweden (Weltexpress). The 2026 Nobel Peace Prize will be awarded to South African lawyer and human rights activist Navanethem “Navi” Pillay, who served as UN high commissioner for human rights in 2008-2014, the Norwegian Nobel Committee stated.

The laureate was honored “for her efforts to promote peace and international law,” the statement said.
