Quite a number of nice Nikes are fond of Niko who has a mixed crowd as guests, some famous like the former lord mayor Klaus Wowereit. What will ‘Wowi’ want? Our wish is Fassolada (Greek bean soup) to start or lamb meat soup with rice noodles, then the appetizer plate or mesedakia as Greeks say. Made up of meses like octapodi (octopuses) that go well with Ouzo, feta, olives and Ntolmadakia (stuffed vine leaves, best dipped in Tsatsiki).
Pita bread (with olive oil and oregano) or Skordopsomo (garlic bread with herb butter and spices) are on the table all the time, and as soon as a basket is empty up comes a new one. In addition to Greek salad with lots of feta cheese, we treat ourselves to Arni Kokkinisto (in this case the lamb meat is served on the bone with green beans and salt potatoes) and to the grill plate of the house, with pig, lamb, beef and veal – enough to feed a family. Will we have Halva, just for the taste, or only Ouzo? Yes, a glass or two of Ploumari Ouzo. You, so will I. Kalinichta, Dionysian Niko!
