The guests will include US President-elect Donald Trump and current US President Joe Biden’s wife Jill. The presidents of Italy, Germany, Poland, Croatia and Bulgaria, as well as King Philippe of Belgium and Prince Albert II of Monaco, will also attend the reopening. The cathedral will open to the public on Monday, December 9. However, until December 16, visitors will need to make a reservation to get into the building.

A fire broke out at the cathedral on the evening of April 15, 2019, which was only extinguished the next morning. The cause of the fire, which started near the spire, remains unidentified. The blazes completely destroyed the wooden roof and the spire. French President Emmanuel Macron gave orders that the cathedral be restored within five years.
