Berlin, FRG (Weltexpress). WELTEXPRESS readers are well aware that the Ministry of War of the United States of America – abbreviated to USA – is preparing for the wars of the future, which will be characterised by new technologies and tactics such as those observed on battlefields across Eurasia, from Ukraine to the Persian Gulf. The Italian journalist Gigi Sartorelli, in an article published in the Communist magazine ‘Contropiano’ on 9 October, estimates that, following twenty years of military setbacks, the Pentagon “Project Meridian: The Future of Warfare”, as suggested by the Italian journalist Gigi Sartorelli in an article in the Communist magazine “Contropiano” on 9 October 2026. He reports that this is “an initiative to redefine the guidelines for ensuring the superiority of the US armed forces in the coming years”.

Under the headline ‘“Project Meridian” for the war of the future, with Musk, Luckey and the shadow of Thiel’, he writes: ‘To complete this study,’ he continues, ‘a sort of working group was set up under the leadership of Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, who wrote unequivocally: ‘To maintain global supremacy, the United States must anticipate future operational environments’.

The author notes that, behind the scenes, the actual work on Project Meridian is being carried out by a highly respected triumvirate, and names them. Elon Musk, who, through Starlink and SpaceX, represents US satellite and space infrastructure; Palmer Luckey, founder of Anduril Industries and backed by Peter Thiel’s Founders Fund; and Newton Gingrich, a historic figure in the Republican Party and former Speaker of the House of Representatives with decades of doctrinal and political experience in the field of so-called national security.

Gigi Sartorelli states that “this committee … has the task” of “striking a balance between geostrategic vision, industrial capacity and cutting-edge technology.” The committee would have “120 days … until 28 January” 2027 “to assess the development of war scenarios, identify skills gaps and specify which technologies must be integrated” in order to maintain the empire’s military superiority, which underpins Washington’s predatory policies.

How long do states that are not vassal states of the US – including the People’s Republic of China and the Russian Federation – have to prepare and defend themselves?
