St Petersburg, RF (Weltexpress). At the 29th St Petersburg Economic Forum from 3 to 6 June 2026, Vladimir Putin, as President of the Russian Federation (RF), spoke on a panel about the war between the United States of America (USA) and its vassals, in particular the State of Israel, and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The RF President responded to the question regarding the possibility of peace between Iran and the USA as follows: “Relations between the neighbouring countries have deteriorated, which naturally concerns us greatly, as we maintain very good and friendly relations with the Arab world and the Gulf states. We are constantly trying to persuade our Iranian friends to refrain from attacking the territory of neighbouring states. But their answer is simple. What do they say? ‘We have been attacked. They are killing our children. They have killed the entire leadership of the country. So what are we supposed to do? We are forced to react in this way.’

You see, in that sense, the situation is not easy for us. We have very good relations with Iran; we are neighbours of the Arab countries. And to be honest, that puts us in a difficult position. But we believe that President Trump’s decision to suspend hostilities is the only right one, and we very much hope that the current ceasefire will lead to the conclusion of a long-term peace.”
