Talks on the Bürgenstock cancelled at short notice, or champagne overlooking Lake Lucerne and crude oil through the Strait of Hormuz

Basel, Swiss Confederation (Weltexpress). The meeting between the United States of America (USA) and the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI), which was due to take place this Friday, 19 June 2026, on the Bürgenstock overlooking Lake Lucerne, has been cancelled at short notice. US Vice-President James Vance will not be travelling to the planned summit on the mountain known as the Bürgenstock in the Urner Alen, which is also called Bürgenberg for this reason.

On the 434-metre-high Bürgenstock – where, in 2024, warmongers, capitalists and fascists met to oppose the Russian Federation (RF) – the USA and the IRI intend to discuss the implementation of the framework agreement of 17 June 2026 in a luxury hotel catering to those who have enriched themselves and been enriched. The hotel complex, which once comprised several typical mountain hotels, including the Grand Hotel and the Palace Hotel, is now known as the Bürgenstock Resort Lake Lucerne. Today, the complex consists of interconnected hotel blocks. This display of grandeur will be described by some as beautiful and by others as ugly.

Unimpressed by this, and without specifying the details of the framework agreement or the letters of intent, the VSA and the IRI have apparently ended the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. On Thursday, 18 June 2026, James Vance told the press: “For the second night in a row, the Iranians have not fired on any ships from a military standpoint. CENTCOM has allowed a dozen ships to pass through our naval blockade, and so we too are honouring our part of the first phase of the agreement.”

According to Vance on 18 June 2026, 12.5 million barrels of oil have already been transported through the Strait of Hormuz since the signing of the memorandum of understanding on 17 June 2026.
